How it all

Began

Martin grew up in the countryside of southwest England as an only child.

Though he was pretty shy in just about every other aspect, socializing, clubs, etc, he had a world of envisioning stuff, learning stuff and his own adventure in the world around him.

Art

is freedom

As Martin got into his teens he got more into sci-fi and loved the comic book art of the time (1970s – 80s) and would practice drawing skills by copying from these, and with friends with similar interests, this helped a lot. This soon included an interest in fantasy art.

The early works library include those and also some watercolor art.

Love Since the 70's

Any art Martin had been taught at school was of little use, in fact it entirely put him off painting as it seemed so complex, one did a bad job and  there seemed no way of correcting mistakes. Drawing was something he felt he could always do, so had stuck with that as a comfort zone.
H eventually got to a plateau with doing pencil drawings and finally wanted to do more. He jumped into doing my first oil painting when 16 and he still has it! He soon got his own cheap airbrush and tried his own airbrush painting, and sold the first one he did.

Despite learning more skills and the pitfalls, the main thing Martin learnt was that he spent too much time comparing himself to others or trying to be like them. Though it was useful as a learning process this is really a big no-no for an artist, long term.

An artist is a creative being, not a duplicating machine that simply copies others, it’s being oneself, creatively, to create an emotional impact.

Time went by, and Martin just dabbled in his art, just sort of keeping it alive within himself.

In 2010 his wife passed away, leaving him with two young boys. Martin knew that no matter what life gave him he will always have the undaunted artist within, that he can always create.

So, Martin put more time in, and learnt more and practiced more, trying different genres and styles. It was quite a difficult transition, not just artistically and getting his head around having to juggle life and bring up kids on his own.

There were times of activity, with the odd sale or two, some exhibitions and times of no activity, times of doubt and insecurity but there was always this little fire to be kindled.

In a nutshell Martin wants to be a friend, someone who can solve something for a client and enhance their life. makes them feel more alive.

We all have the desire to create, be it hairdressing or gardening, its part of all of us, it is what gives us goals and a future.

Imagination gives freedom.

Martin inclines towards adventure, doing the unusual or even things that are odd, He supports being active, freedom of expression and imagination.

Martin believes learning is something that never stops and having knowledge of something gives one understanding and thus one is able to face that thing, be it a thing, person or situation.

Creative Minds

Imagination is freedom.

No one needs permission to have an idea or imagine. It’s the thing we can all do any time. Sometimes it’s the one thing that keeps us going.

When all is rough, failing, sorrowful and things are against one, one can always imagine a different, better scene, just take a step back and be in a quiet place for a moment.

Indeed, the imagination allows us to put a future there and gives goals one can aim towards.

That gives life. When you are working toward a goal, you are happy and feel energy and life. To be honest, someone who has lost that ability is more dying than living.
